Read how Forma Gym members have found their motivation in their own unique ways.
I came into Forma last November. I woke up one day and decided I needed to fix things. I signed up for the personal training and nutrition package and had an assessment with Dave Miller. On our first workout, Dave introduced me to one of the trainers, Steve Schmitt. From that day forward my life changed forever. When I started with Steve, I didn’t know how much I weighed and didn’t want to know. He took my picture, my measurements, and my weight, but I didn’t look at the scale. We sat down and he developed a food plan for me—and I’ve stuck to it religiously. We trained five days a week at a minimum, and I got results immediately. Steve is an amazing motivator! I lost 50 lbs. in exactly 100 days! It was at that point that Steve revealed my starting weight was 300 lbs. I was blown away. I became capable of doing more physically every day. Steve would have my workouts planned, so I only had to show up ready. He’s one of the reasons for my success because I respect him. He is so knowledgeable and also aware of just how much he can get out of me every day. I always rise to the challenge and do everything he tells me to do, period. I’ve lost 122 lbs. From size 50 pants and a 4X polo shirt, I now wear size 31 pants and a medium-size polo shirt. We just did my body fat analysis today and it is 13.8%! As I was losing weight, the entire staff at Forma was so supportive. The environment has been key to my success. Steve, of course, is the man. His nametag says Life Coach for a reason.

I always considered myself healthy, however, I always knew I needed to do more. But after joining clubs and feeling intimidated, hating the experience, I avoided those places. I believed that although I was not in perfect shape, I was exercising—swimming daily in the summer and taking walks during the winter—thus okay. Until that fateful day. After a freak accident, I faced the prospect of joining millions of others in a lifetime of swallowing pills and incurring potentially dangerous side effects from expensive medication. Or I could act, by working naturally at getting back to healthy and strong. I knew I needed help and I knew a good trainer would be the key. I also knew that I needed to find the right place, with a pool and a facility that was bright, cheerful, and comfortable. Luckily the day I visited Forma Gym, Bob was there. He understood immediately what my goals were and what I needed to do to reach them. So I signed up for the maximum number of personal training sessions. The next day, I began truly exercising on a daily basis. Bob is perceptive, knowledgeable, encouraging, and supportive. For four years now I’ve been coming to the gym six days a week. I’m a much stronger and healthier person as a result. I truly owe my success to Bob.
Wow! This can’t be me! I’d always taken pretty good care of myself. I tried to lead a balanced lifestyle that included exercise and a good diet, but somewhere along the way I started to slip. I developed bad eating habits, wasn’t getting much exercise, gained weight, and started to have problems with my health. I had to make some changes fast. I discovered Forma Gym and with their help, I made the changes I had to make. I was starting to see results when tragedy struck close to home. A close friend passed away after a fatal stroke at age of 49, attributed to an unhealthy lifestyle. With the support and encouragement from my trainer and the friends I had made at the gym, I moved past my loss and found strength to continue my journey back to a healthy life. Now this is me! Thank you, Forma Gym!
My workouts with Art have been amazing because he took me under his wing and showed me the proper way to work out. I was doing everything wrong. He helped me get my eating habits in order. Art’s passion about fitness and nutrition has changed my life. I’ve lost 50 lbs. and four pants sizes. He’s pushed me just hard enough to reach my goal and I feel so much better.
